  3. I've never been to an auction before, I'm worried that I'll accidentally buy something. That's a common fear, but misplaced. You will see some people who make subtle bids but this is because they are regulars who are known by the Auctioneer. To bid, you should look at the Auctioneer and let them know that you are bidding, for example raise your registration card above your head.

  5. What do I have to do to bid? You will be required to complete a registration form with your name and contact details and sign to accept our terms and conditions of sale, which are auction industry standard. Our staff will provide you with a numbered bidding card. Whenever you want to bid just raise your card clearly to the auctioneer. You must be registered to bid.

  7. Are there any other charges over and above the Hammer Price Yes, in general all Auctioneers levy a Buyer's Premium on the Hammer Price. Ours is 20% + VAT though the Premium may vary in some Specialist Auctions. A few Lots (thoes marked with an * in the Catalogue) also attract VAT on the Hammer Price. Thus, the additional costs above the Hammer Price can be for example,
    A) A £100 Hammer price with only Buyers Premium of £23.50 inc VAT (23.5%) equates to a total cost of £123.50
    B) Where there is VAT on the Hammer Price of £100 there will be Buyers Premium (inc VAT) of £23.5 (23.5%) and VAT of £17.50 (17.5%) equating to a total cost of £141.00.
